The convective rainfall rate product of NWC SAF, based on satellite data, estimated hourly precipitation rates of up to 30 mm/h during several time steps, with the 24 h precipitation estimate accumulating to more than 110 mm.

Continuous formation of convection at approximately the same location can be tracked on the radar composite image showing the radar reflectivity in dBz.

In the NWC SAF product Rapidly Developing Thunderstorms (RDT), which is suitable for the detection, monitoring, characterization, and prediction of convective cells, we can follow the life cycle of the convection from initiation to growth and decay.

In just a few hours (from 19:30 to 23:00 UTC), in the Northern Adriatic, in almost the same place, several life cycles of convective cells can be monitored.
