At this timestep the wave bulge ‘2’ is recognised for the first time. It extends from the northern boundary of Czech Republic northward along the German – Polish border. The clouds there are thick and strongly convective. The idea of a wave bulge is supported by the WV image which shows a dark stripe extending from France across Southern Germany and ending in Czech Republic, exactly where the cloud bulge begins. While IR and especially the much better resolution of the HRVis channel shows a cloud area which is not very continueous, the WV image gives the impression of a large scale wave bulge.
