Example
Front Delay
The example shows a Cold Front moving across central Europe. At the Alps the southern part stays behind (the frontal cloud band is more to the west than the part north of the Alps).
Decoupling of clouds at different heights
A long extended, north-south orientated Cold Front crosses the Alps. Lower level cloudiness moves slower and clearly stays behind. In the WV image the lower part is very dark, showing dry air at higher levels at that area.

Vertical Cross Sections
Global models are too coarse to show these effects. If LAM fields are used a stable stratification can be seen.
