Total precipitation & Resources

The summary of precipitation between 30 May and 2 June 2013 is shown in Fig. 7.1. Due to the northern component of the air flow, the German side of the Alps and the Erzgebirge were strongly affected. This contrast between the exposed and lee sides was also observed across lower mountains like Harz, Thüringer Wald, Odenwald, Schwarzwald, Schwäbische Alb etc.

The precipitation and flood were not confined to Germany alone.

Precipitation was also very high in the upper reaches of the Elbe and Danube and their tributaries.
