Regional Forecaster courses 2024: Baltic+, SEEMET, NOMEK
April - May 2024Baltic+ training course for forecasters from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine will consist of an online phase 15 April - 3 May, followed by the classroom course in Tallinn 21 - 23 May 2024, hosted by the Estonian Environment Agency. The online training course will include live sessions with presentations from experts and discussions among course participants. An essential part of the course will represent case study work practising skills on using satellite to refresh forecast skills and other products for monitoring warm season convection over the Baltic+ region.
SEEMET-2024 classroom course for the forecasters from South-East European NMHSs will take place in Sarajevo, 22 - 26 April 2024, hosted by the Federal Hydrometeorological Service of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will be a basic satellite course composed of lectures and practical exercises. The focus will be on applications of satellite data and products with a special emphasis on MTG-I1 data.
NOMEK, a course for Nordic operational meteorologists, will be organized by the Finnish Meteorological Institute in Helsinki, 27 - 31 May 2024. The course is designed to enhance skills in monitoring, forecasting and warning of high impact summer storms using new satellite capabilities through FCI and LI on MTG-I1.
