MSG IR10.8 imagery with surface pressure and geopotential height at 300 hPa: time sequence
9th June 2004: 00UTC
The image from 00 UTC reveals a surface trough in relation to a warm front wave (Marked by "-") west of the bright cloud complex. In 300 hPa we find a long-wave ridge with a short wave trough over the western parts of this cloud pattern.
9th June 2004: 06UTC
The convective cloud complex was triggered by the short wave trough extending over parts of North Germany.
9th June 2004: 12UTC
Till 12 UTC the surface low intensified (due to an increased direct circulation caused by the solar irradiation at the southern edge of the super cell). The convective cell complex remained at the front site of the short wave upper air trough.
