The intensity of convection is depicted by maximum reflectivity in dBZ scale where hail is likely at 50 and highly
likely above 54 dBz.
At this time step there is no sign of convective activity over Croatia.
At the left bottom of the image some sign of convectivity can be recognised, but the signal is at the edge of the radar range.
The first sign of strong convection can be recognised just next to the island of Rab.
Within the cell in the lower left corner the radar shows high reflectivity, over 60 dBz. In this area, according to the reflectivity, hail occurence is highly probable. And that was true - hail on the island of Rab was the size of an egg or a even peach.
At this time convection starts over the inland, induced by the orography. Two cells with reflectivity above 55 dBz can be recognised. In the core of the left cell reflectivity was higher than 65 dBz.
The system moves towards north-east. The left cell has weakened, but its reflectivity is still above 40 dBz. The right cell still shows a strong signal.
Convection is still strong over Lika, smaller in area, but with reflectivity up to 60 dBz. Hail occurence is highly probable.
The cell moves towards east.
The cell is moving further to the east and weakening which can be noticed by lower reflectivity values. Two new cells develop on the north side of the mountain Velebit with reflectivity about 50 dBz.
Convection over the coastal area goes on.
Convection over the coastal area and over Lika goes on.
Convection over Lika goes on.
The strong convection moves to Bosnia and Hercegovina. A few red cells with reflectivity above 55 dBz can be recognised.
Situation similar to the one 15 minutes before.
The new development over the central part of Croatia appears, also with reflectivity above 50 dBz. The first signs of convection can be noticed over north-west Croatia.
Situation similar to the one 15 minutes before with some intensification of reflectivity over Lika.
Convective cells moves towards east.
The strong convection with reflectivity about 60 dBz can be recognised over central Croatia.
Situation similar to the one 15 minutes before. Some hail was recorded.
Convection over central Croatia and partly over north Bosnia and Hercegovina goes on with reflectivity about 55 dBz.
Convection over central Croatia and partly over north Bosnia and Hercegovina goes on with reflectivity about 55 dBz.
Strong convection can be recognised over the north-eastern part of Bosnia and Hercegovina. Cell with reflectivity above 60 dBz can be noticed. In this area hail occurence is highly probable.
Over the central and north Croatia development continues, and the cell over Bosnia and Hercegovina moves towards east.
Over the central and north Croatia development continues, and the cell over Bosnia and Hercegovina is moving towards east and weakening.
Situation similar to the one 15 minutes before.
The radar shows a little decrease of reflectivity, especially over the north-western part of Croatia. Some dots still have reflectivity about 50 dBz.
New intensification can be noticed over west and central part of Croatia with reflectivity above 50 dBz.
New intensification can be noticed over west and central part of Croatia and over the border with Hungary with reflectivity above 50 dBz. Some hail was recorded.
New convective development appears near the border with Bosnia and Hercegovina with reflectivity above 55 dBz.
Between 02:00 and 03:00 UTC the strong convection goes on. Cells with reflectivity around and above 60 dBz can be recognised over the northern part of Croatia. A lot of hail was recorded (see image) and serious damages of property (cars, roofs, trees, orchards, crops) were reported.

Reflectivity shows a temporary weakening, but there are still some cells with maximum reflectivity values above 45 dBz. The whole system moves to the east.
New intensification of convectivity depicted by high radar reflectivity can be noticed over north-east Croatia. Again, hail was recorded.
The radar shows reflectivity above 60 dBz over the border of Croatia and Serbia. In this area hail occurrence is highly probable.
The radar shows decrease of reflectivity, especially over Croatia, which is a sign of a decay of convection.
The weakening of the system goes on.
