Convective Available Potential Energy (CAPE)

22 June 2007, 18 UTC

The CAPE values between 500 and 1000 J/kg can be found over the Adriatic Sea. The atmosphere is potentialy unstable. The influence of orographic lifting plays an important role in the onset and development of severe convection which happend over the island of Rab and later over inland (Lika).
The highest CAPE values (over 2500 J/kg) can be noticed over the east Croatia and further to the south, over the border with Bosnia and Hercegovina and Serbia. Discrepancy between CAPE values and real convection can be noticed.
