Behind the frontal cloud band a pronounced upper level trough is seen. On
the other hand, over south-eastern Turkey and Syria the first sign of
an upper level low appears.
25 May 2006, 18 UTC
Situation similar to the one 6 hours before.
26 May 2006, 00 UTC
The upper level trough propagates to the east.
26 May 2006, 06 UTC
Convection on the leading edge of the upper level tough
progresses. In the following
hours we can expect some new development over eastern Turkey, connected to the left exit region of the jet streak coming from the east. (Click

26 May 2006, 12 UTC
The trough behind the cold front deepens and the convection on the
edge of the upper level low over eastern Turkey intensifies.
26 May 2006, 18 UTC
The almost meridional axis of the trough is placed over the Black Sea coast and
western Turkey. It is
now sharper and closer to the frontal cloud. Convection
within the frontal system merged with prefrontal convection and the convection influenced by
the upper level low.
27 May 2006, 00 UTC
The trough is moving to the
east.
27 May 2006, 06 UTC
In the past 6 hours the trough is shifted further to the east and is now situated over
the surface low. In the south-westerly flow the frontal system moves from Turkey to Russia.
