Two synoptic systems are dominant over south-eastern Europe - a high pressure system over Croatia, Hungary and further to the west and the low pressure system over south-eastern Turkey and Syria. Frontal cloudiness coincides with the strongest gradient in the isohypses, and the big convective cell is found at the leading edge of an upper level trough.

The geopotential field is similar to the one 6 hours before. A large MCS (Mesoscale Convective System), embedded into the cold front cloudiness is covering big part of Greece and Bulgaria.

The cold front is approaching Turkey. A strong convective system, induced by the orography, can be observed ahead of the frontal zone. A shallow surface trough in front of the SW-NE oriented frontal system is a preferable surrounding for the new development.

Two surface lows are observed - one over the Black Sea and Russia and the other over Cyprus and Syria. At this time step prefrontal convection over Central Turkey intensifies.

Again, the large MCS can be observed embedded into the cold front. The surface trough over eastern Turkey points to the second large MCS which is connected to an upper level low. Prefrontal convergence across central Turkey refrains. A zone of the confluent flow, caused by the cyclonic movement over Turkey and the anticyclonic movement over eastern Europe, is recognised.

In front of the surface ridge, several large MCSs can still be observed. They are developed as the convection embedded into the cold front merged with the prefrontal convection.

Convective clouds over Turkey dissolved in the past 6 hours. Frontal cloudiness moved to north-east together with the surface trough.

The surface ridge over Turkey is getting stronger and atmosphere is continuing to stabilise.
