9th July 2004: 12UTC
A depression is located over the northern part of Central Europe. Further south over the Balkan area some convective activity is observed. A closer look reveals over the Carpathian Mountains the onset to more convection. Over Ukrain still cyclonic flow is observed. Further south the ridge of a high pressure system is observed.
9th July 2004: 18UTC
With a slackening anticyclone over the Balkan area the convection is directed towards Ukrain.
10th July 2004: 00UTC
The depression situated over Central Europe has moved Northeast. The convective onset over the Carpathian Mountains has further developed. Confluent flow near the surface can be derived from the isohypsen.
10th July 2004: 06UTC
Confluent flow and convection is still observed between the high pressure system over the Black Sea and the depression over Southern Sweden.
10th July 2004: 12UTC
A high pressure system is found over the Black Sea. North of it large convective systems are observed. To the west over the Carpathian Mountains and also over Bulgaria the onset of new convection is observed.
10th July 2004: 18UTC
Within the convective system of interest some finer structures are seen in the isohypses. As a result of evaporation and cooling of the surface some slight tendencies in pressure are observed.
11th July 2004: 00UTC
Confluent flow is observed over Ukrain resulting in further development of this large convective system.
